Two retired professional baseball players decided the "real world" wasn't for them. We grew up in the Northeast and spent much of our childhood, teenage years, and 20's playing baseball and chasing our dream. We played on little league all-star teams, high school championship teams, successful Division I baseball programs, and even professional baseball teams that won league championships.

In 2000 we partnered up in a 2,000 sq. foot facility next to the Chesterfield County Airport to share our knowledge of baseball. We took a gamble and made an investment in ourselves. We opened our first location in December of 2000 and were able to get a 100+ players registered for our first ever 10 week winter program. We worked our tails off for those 3 months (60-70 hours a week) to put on the best baseball program possible. The success of that winter program quickly transitioned into a full schedule of lessons in the spring, summer, and winter. The word got out and the next winter's program numbers doubled to just over 200+ players, so we knew we had found our niche doing something we love in a great area south of the James River. As the numbers grew, we surrounded ourselves with the best coaches available who shared our vision and could assist us in developing ballplayers throughout the county.

It wasn't too long before the original facility could not hold all the players who were interested in working with us so by 2007 we had moved into a bigger 7,500 sq. foot facility in the back of the Oak Lake business park. Our winter program was now registering well over 300+ players and with the success of spring and fall instruction programs as well as summer camps and year round lessons we were convinced that our move was a successful one. As the numbers grew even more, we decided to develop and partner up with local travel teams who sought out our experience and professionalism and wanted to be a part of the RBA family. Once again we surrounded ourselves with even more people who shared our vision of how teams should be handled and how players should develop.

Chesterfield County was becoming the hotbed for elite baseball as witnessed by 3 HS State Championships in a period of 5 years from 2006-2009. We soon added a high performance center that allowed our players to develop the strength, speed and agility they needed to compete at the highest level. Our walls were now becoming filled with team trophies but more importantly photos of our former students now playing in college. When we opened in 2000 there had only been a handful of DI players out of Chesterfield County in the previous decade - over the ensuing decade there were over 100 and in our 15 years that total number has exceeded 200. There is little doubt that Chesterfield County is as competitive on the diamond as any region in the world. PONY world titles, NCAA World Series appearances, WWBA World Titles, High School State Championships - all emanating from South of James River.

Yet, we still knew we were destined for something more. Now, we have finally reached our next destination. An 18,000 sq. foot facility that allows our students plenty of hitting, infield, bullpens, long toss, weightlifting, speed training, and even modified outdoor practices. We have an incredible group of players, parents, and coaches by our side and because of them our potential is unlimited.

There's no doubt that this academy is our passion and how we were meant to serve this community. We look forward to meeting many more great parents and players in the years to come and together helping them reach their dreams.
